Privacy policies have a reputation for being unreadable, and most of that reputation is earned. This one covers everything the law requires it to cover, written in language you can actually follow. If anything below is unclear, you’re welcome to write in and ask.
By browsing, reading, commenting on, subscribing to, or otherwise using Dapper Well, you agree to the practices described on this page. If you don’t agree with something here, the right move is to stop using the site.
Who This Site Is For
Dapper Well writes about clothing for bigger men, and the site is meant for adults. It isn’t directed at children under the age of 13, and no personal information is knowingly collected from anyone in that age group.

The Information Collected Here
Two kinds of information are collected on Dapper Well.
Information you give directly. This is anything you choose to submit, and it may include:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number or mailing address, if you provide one in a message
- Any content you type into a comment, contact form, or survey
- Payment and billing details, in the event the site ever sells anything directly, in which case payment processing is handled by a third-party processor and full card details are never stored on this site
Information collected automatically. When any website is visited, including this one, some technical information is recorded by default:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device type
- Internet service provider
- Date and time of your visit
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring page that sent you here
That automatic data is not used to identify you personally. It’s aggregate information about how the site is being used.
Where That Information Comes From
Information reaches Dapper Well through a handful of ordinary channels: the contact form, comment fields, newsletter signup forms, any purchase made through the site, server log files, analytics software, and cookies stored in your browser. Each of those is described in more detail below.
What the Information Gets Used For
Data collected through Dapper Well is used to:
- Operate the site and keep it working properly
- Understand which articles are useful so more of that kind gets written
- Respond to your questions, corrections, and messages
- Send newsletters and updates to people who asked for them
- Personalize what you see, such as remembering preferences between visits
- Detect, prevent, and address spam, abuse, fraud, and technical problems
- Meet legal obligations when they apply
Your information is not sold. It isn’t rented out, and it isn’t traded.
Server Logs
Like nearly all websites, Dapper Well and its hosting provider keep standard log files. These record IP addresses, browser type, internet service provider, referring and exit pages, and date and time stamps.
Log data isn’t linked to any personally identifiable information. It’s used for analyzing traffic patterns, diagnosing server problems, and administering the site.
Cookies and What They Do
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so it can recognize your browser on a return visit. Cookies on this site are used to remember your preferences, to keep comment fields filled with the details you entered last time, and to gather anonymous statistics about how people move through the site.
You can control cookies yourself. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete existing ones, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Turning cookies off entirely is your right, though some parts of this site or others may not behave as expected afterwards. Your browser’s help documentation explains how to change these settings.
Pixels, Tags, and Web Beacons
Alongside cookies, this site and its third-party partners may use small tracking technologies commonly called web beacons, pixels, or tags. These are tiny, usually invisible files embedded in a page or email that register when the page was loaded or the email opened.
They’re used to measure the performance of content and email campaigns, and they may be used by advertising partners in the future to measure whether ads are working. They don’t collect your name, address, or anything else that identifies you personally.
Analytics
Dapper Well uses Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns, including which pages are read most, how visitors arrived, and roughly where in the world they are. Google Analytics collects this data through cookies and reports it in aggregate.

Advertising Partners
Dapper Well may work with third-party advertising partners now or at some point in the future. Where that happens, those partners may set their own cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies in your browser to deliver advertising based on your interests and to measure how those ads perform. This site does not control the technologies those partners use, and their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies.

Opting out stops ads from being personalized. It doesn’t stop ads from appearing.
Affiliate Relationships
Some links on Dapper Well are affiliate links, meaning a small commission may be earned when you click through and buy something. That includes participation in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Other clothing retailers and menswear brands run similar programs this site takes part in.
Buying through one of these links never costs you more than going direct. Affiliate relationships don’t determine which garments get recommended here, and a product’s commission rate has no bearing on whether it gets a good review.
Comments and Social Accounts
When you leave a comment, the data in the comment form is collected, along with your IP address and browser user agent string, which helps with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it, and if so your profile picture becomes visible alongside your comment after approval.
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up replies can be recognized and moderated rather than held in a queue.
If you interact with Dapper Well on social platforms by following, commenting, messaging, or sharing, that interaction happens under the privacy policy of the platform itself, not this one.
Newsletters and Email
If you subscribe to the Dapper Well newsletter, your email address is used to send you new articles, fit guides, and occasional notes about products worth knowing about. Your address is not sold or handed over to other marketers.
Every email sent complies with the CAN-SPAM Act. That means a real subject line that describes the message honestly, a working postal or email contact, clear identification when a message contains advertising, and an unsubscribe link in every single email.
Stopping Communications
You can leave at any time. Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email from Dapper Well, and you’ll be removed from the list, usually within minutes and no later than ten business days as the law allows.
You can also write to us and ask to be removed, and it will be handled manually. Unsubscribing from marketing emails doesn’t stop necessary replies to a message you sent us.
When Information Is Shared
Personal information collected through this site may be shared in a limited set of circumstances:
- Service providers. Companies that host the site, deliver emails, process payments, or provide analytics, each acting only on the site’s behalf and only for those purposes.
- Legal requirements. Where disclosure is required by law, a court order, or a valid request from a public authority, or where it’s needed to protect the rights, safety, or property of the site or its readers.
- Business transfer. If Dapper Well is ever sold, merged, or transferred, reader information may pass to the new owner, who would remain bound by the commitments in this policy.
Embedded Content
Articles here sometimes include embedded content, such as videos, images, social posts, or size charts hosted elsewhere. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly.
Those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed their own third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including when you have an account and are logged in to them. Dapper Well has no control over that.
Links Going Elsewhere
This site links out constantly, to brands, retailers, size charts, and other publications. Once you click one of those links, you’re on someone else’s site, and this policy no longer applies.
Reading the privacy policy of any site you visit from here is worth your time. Dapper Well isn’t responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party site.
How Long Data Is Kept
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so conversations can continue and repeat commenters can be recognized. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards for reference. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the analytics provider.
Registered users, if accounts are ever offered, can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, apart from usernames.
Keeping Your Data Safe
Reasonable, industry-standard measures are used to protect the information collected through Dapper Well, including secure hosting, encrypted connections, restricted access to data, and software kept up to date.
No transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, so while the aim is to protect your personal information using commercially acceptable means, absolute security can’t be guaranteed.
If You’re in the European Economic Area
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Access. Request copies of the personal data held about you.
- Rectification. Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, or incomplete information completed.
- Erasure. Ask for your personal data to be deleted, subject to certain conditions.
- Restriction. Ask for processing of your data to be limited, subject to certain conditions.
- Objection. Object to the processing of your personal data, subject to certain conditions.
- Portability. Ask for your data to be transferred to another organization or to you, in a machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent. Where processing relies on your consent, withdraw that consent at any time.
- Complaint. Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority if you believe your rights have been breached.
If You’re a California Resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Know what categories of personal information have been collected about you, where it came from, why it was collected, and with whom it has been shared.
- Delete the personal information collected about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of the sale of your personal information. Dapper Well does not sell personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of, but the right stands and you may exercise it by writing in with the subject line “Do Not Sell My Personal Information.”
- Non-discrimination, meaning you won’t receive worse service or different pricing for exercising any of these rights.
Verifiable requests are answered within one month of receipt.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the site grows, as new tools are adopted, or as the law changes. When that happens, the revised version is posted on this page with a new effective date.
Continuing to use Dapper Well after a change means you accept the updated policy, so checking this page occasionally is worth the minute it takes.
